MONTHLY COMPETITION: 'WHERE'S BOB?'
January Where's Bob
BOB on LOCATION!
Bob Shop
How well do you think you know Brecon? Well now you can find out with our monthly 'Where's Bob?' competition! Brecon Bob is our newest recruit, as you can see in the photo on the left, modelling the new Plain Lazy clothing range in store! Each month, we'll be giving a prize away to a lucky winner who correctly identifies the exact location where our reliable and hard working Bob has been placed.

Have a look at the photo on the right for this month's location clue. Be as accurate as you can!  If more than one person identifies the exact location then the winner will be drawn from a hat.
This month's prize is a fantastic Giro cycling helmet, with an RRP of £29.99!
Email your answers by return or to info@bikesandhikes.co.uk by 20th February to be in with a chance of winning this great prize.

Why not view the video on the left and try the bikes at our special 'demo day'.

Caving in the Brecon Beacons
ACTIVITY REVIEW - CAVING
The great thing about caving is that there is a constant temperature throughout the year of between 7-9 degrees. So if it's getting too harsh for you above ground, why not come in from the cold and give caving a try. With a vast underground system, caving can be an enjoyable physical challenge or a stroll through high ceilinged cave system. For the weekend beginner or the seasoned adventurer, either way it's an experience not to be missed. Call us for a day out underground with our qualified instructors. (click here for details)

THIS MONTH'S TOP TIP
Gear Cables and Brake Cable: With winter conditions as they are, you need to be mindful of your gear and brake cables becoming exposed to the salt and grit. The red sand stone prevalent in the Brecon Beacons also causes many problems with cabling if bikes are not maintained. Here's our top tip to combat the corrosive effects on your bike.
V-Brakes: Unattach the v-brake noodle, slide outer casing down to expose the inner cable. Wipe this clean and drop wet lube inside the casing. Try the brakes 3 to 4 times to work lube into cable.
Disc Brakes: Take the wheel out and spray disc brake cleaner in between the pads. Run a cloth through gently to clean grit out. This will extend the life of your rotor and pads.
